First Post..Why I am here.

Okay, I’m new at this blogging thing so, bare with me as I learn.

I am starting this blog for a few reasons:

  1. To share and hopefully teach at least one person how I am saving money on groceries and the every day necessities using coupons, stockpiling and sales.
  2. To help myself keep a journal of my couponing journey.
  3. To share my decorating projects using items I find at yard sales, Craigslist, etc.

Over the past several months, I have started using coupons and shopping sales to help make ends meet.  With 3 teenagers (2 boys and 1 girl) in the house, my grocery bill was at least $600 a month before I started paying attention to sales and using coupons in the right way (I will show you how and direct you to the experts later).  My goal now is to only spend $75 a week for a total of $300 a month.  Yeah…half of what I was spending.  So far, I have done pretty well and the kids have started calling me the “coupon queen.”  I just remind them that by saving money on groceries and toiletries and HBA’s (health and beauty aids), we are able to do other things and actually take a vacation this year!

Being a single mother and only bringing home $2200 a month, its been a struggle for the past ten years.  I wish I would have started this years ago, but better late than never, right?  Well, I hope you enjoy my ramblings and learn something to help your own family make it during these tough times.

My next few posts will include lots of information about the coupon language, some great sources for information, online printable coupons.  There is so much information out there, it can seem overwhelming, but I have a few sites that have really helped me and I can’t wait to share them with you.

Happy Birthday to our great country.  Have a safe and Happy 4th of July!!!

  1. Nice to "meet" you, Gloria! I'm an avid couponer and a crafty gal, who is suddenly interested in remaking furniture and accessories. I look forward to following your blog!

  2. This is SO COOL! I will keep on reading and following your blog and maybe i can learn how to save some money too. I am about to start a new blog soon and I have been searching online for inspiration from other moms and DIYers. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience, please blog more about the coupons and good luck! 🙂 Lucianna
