Beach Mantle – Yep, It’s Almost Summer!

Oh, Summer.  It’s finally here, well almost.  It has been a cold, wet and dreary Spring and I don’t know about you, but I can’t stop thinking about some sunshine and being
“knee deep in the water somewhere.”  (My new favorite Zac Brown Band song.)

So, to get the Summer feeling started at home, I have redecorated my “mantle.”

I took my sunburst mirror from my bedroom and put it here.  We needed some sunshine in here!
(Sorry about the grainy pictures.  The lighting in this room is horrible.)

Even though I found a real antique fan a few weeks ago, I still love this replica I got at Hobby Lobby.  We are gonna need a cool breeze this Summer.

I whipped this framed sea shell last night with a yard sale frame, some chalk paint, my favorite burlap and some hot glue.  I love how the frame looks so weathered.  That board behind it is one I had laying around.  I just added a little chalk paint, washed a little sea glass colored paint over top and some acrylic antiquing glaze over that.  Reminds me of driftwood.

My sunburst mirror again.

The only thing I purchased for this display was the course sand for the jars and a bag of shells. The hurricane on the right is a Dollar Store candle stick and vase glued together.  I’m sure you have seen these before in the past year on other blogs.  Love the starfish.  Need more of those.

Are you ready for Summer?

  1. Hi Gloria, dropping in from Sherry's Home Sweet Home. Loving your beach inspired summer mantle. I love beach decor and decorating with blue. I love the chalk paint frame and the excellent job you did on it… with the burlap and shell in it… beautiful! Loved it! And I like the way you glued the glass vase on the candle stand to display your shells… very inspiring! Thanks for sharing with us. And yes we are all ready for summer after all that rain in spring.~Poppyhttp://withadashofcolor.blogspot.com/
