Beautiful and Simple Fall Decorating Ideas

It’s September and after Labor Day, which means it’s…

… my absolute favorite time to decorate.  I love adding the colors and textures which add some warmth in my home.

I’ve compiled several simple and beautiful Fall decorating ideas that I have come across lately.  I hope you enjoy them!

A wreath is a great way to start your Fall decorating.

I love this mantle decor.  Who says Fall has to be orange and red?  Love the white pumpkins and arrangement of silver trays.

I will definitely be making some stuffed pumpkins.  These are so cute.

Now this is just brilliant and super easy!

How pretty is this and so easy and inexpensive to do.

There’s a park near my Mom’s house that has tons of acorns.  Need to go and harvest a bunch from the ground.

Great centerpiece for any table.

I could go on forever.  So many projects, so little time.

Happy Fall, Y’all

A Halloween "Mantle"

Did you miss me?

Well, I’m all moved in, almost all the boxes are unpacked, and we are settling in.  It’s been fun decorating a little in the new place (I will be posting some pics this week) and I had a little fun decorating a “mantle” on my front porch for Halloween.  And, I’m ready to get back to blogging and some projects!

I’m usually not a big Halloween decorator since my kids are all almost grown, they don’t really get into any more.  But I felt a little inspired by all the mantles I saw over at Home Stories A2Z’s Halloween Mantle Party and thought I would join in.  I hope I’m not too late.

Since I don’t have a mantle in this house either, I decided to make a vignette out on the porch for the trick-or-treaters to enjoy next week.

I mostly used things I already had.  but picked up a few things at the Dollar Tree to complete it.  The chalkboard is actually a print from a Goodwill frame that I spray painted with Chalkboard Paint covering the ugly interesting painting.  A few ceramic pumpkins, crows, leaves, and grave stone from Dollar Tree.  Oh, the caldron is from Dollar Tree too, with a stick out of the yard that I sprayed black.  All sitting on a coffee bag covering an old drop leaf table I haven’t refinished yet.

Looks a little spooky, huh?

Are you ready for Halloween?  Do you decorate for it or just for the Fall season?

Just a Little Fall in the House

It’s officially Fall and its time to warm up the house a little with some Fall decor.  Even though I’m moving in a few weeks, I couldn’t help but put out just a little before I have to pack it all up.

So, here’s my Fall “mantle”.

Most everything I already had.  You may recognize the lantern from last year that I made out of an old brass light fixture (see post here).

And the shutters that I painted here.

The new things are the stuffed pumpkins I picked up at a recent craft fair for $1 each, a bunch of dried wheat for $2 (had a 50% off coupon), and the little pumpkin potpourri in the candle holder (you know, those Dollar Tree hurricanes glued to a glass candle stick).

Love this little tarnished silver cup.  It’s a little trophy cup for the Old Dominion Classic. Got it at Goodwill for 55 cents!

I am liking the layers and colors without being too…orange.  Not that there’s anything wrong with orange.  It’s so fun to shop around the house and bring little things together to create a whole new look, not to mention it doesn’t have to cost anything at all.

A Little Fall Wreath and Olde Salem Days

Monday Inspiration

School is starting, the days are getting shorter, stores are stocked with Halloween stuff…Fall is coming Y’all.

This is my absolute favorite time of year.

The colors.

The cool days and nights with the windows open.

Kids back in school and not eating me out of house and home.  🙂

Comfort food like soups, chicken n’ dumplin’s, pumpkin bread, apple butter.

And of course, the decorating.

I’ve had to start a little early at my booth and it has definitely got me in the mood.

But, I will wait until September to start the decorating at home…maybe.

What are you looking forward to this Fall?

Fall Front Door

Happy Fall Y’all

I decorated my front entry a week or so ago, but just took pictures this morning for you.

Nothing too fancy, just a new wreath that I made for under $10 and a few mums and pumpkins.

I love this little chair that I picked up at a yard sale several years ago for I think $5.  It has no seat in it, so I just stapled some burlap across the middle to hold the pot.

The wreath is made with Dollar Tree fall leaves that are kind of crepe-papery and look so real (2 packs at $1 each), one small sunflower bush from Michaels ($2.99 – 50% off), a few fall picks from Michaels $0.99 each, and a few pieces of burlap.  Simple and cute…just how I like it.

Spreading a Little Fall Around

The weather has finally cooled down and that makes me want to warm things up with some Fall decorations.  This is my favorite time of year.  I love the crisp weather, watching the mountains turn from green to orange and gold, chili and other comfort foods, football, and of course Halloween.

I’ve still got a few more things to do, but here’s what the house is looking like so far….

Here’s a little vignette I have on my dining table.  Notice my knock-off hurricanes made out of Dollar Tree vases and candle sticks?  Yep…$2 each!  I picked up the little birds at Michael’s.  They are part of their Tuscan line and were on clearance for 70% off.  Score!  The little pumpkin I already had.

I have also changed up the built-in shelves in the dining room to include a little Fall.  The frames I got at Dollar Tree, they were 2 for $1 and I just used some scrapbook paper and chipboard letters that I already had.  When it gets closer to Halloween, I will change that up with something more Halloween-y.

The living room also got a few little changes with a few yard sale finds.  I just loved the shape of the clock.  I haven’t decided if I want to paint it or something yet.  For now, it will do.  The candle-stick also came from a yard sale, I think for 50 cents, with a little white pumpkin I picked up at Dollar Tree. Hmmm…I need something else on there in the middle.

And, of course my lantern from my last post.

I’ve also made a wreath for the front door, but I want to get some mums this weekend for that area before revealing it.  Check back…I’ll be adding more things over the rest of the week and this weekend.

October is almost here…have y’all been spreading some Fall around?

Goodwill Transformation

I was in my local Goodwill a few weeks ago and spotted this yucky brass beauty high up on the shelf just begging to be taken home and turned into something beautiful.  For only $3.00, I snatched it right up and took it home.

I had remembered seeing a fixture like this turned into a cute lantern somewhere in blogland and decided that is what it would be.  So, I proceeded to take out all the lighting parts, which I saved just in case I figure out something to do with them, and broke out the black spray paint.  The part on top was in 3 pieces, so I just superglued them together.  I didn’t even cover the glass…I just sprayed and then when it was dry, scraped the glass with a razor blade.

And…drumroll….this is how it turned out.  Gotta love spray paint!

Since its  Fall, I added in some little pumpkin, apple, and sprigs I picked up at Michael’s.  I love it!

What have you picked up at a thrift store lately that you’ve transformed?
