Potentially Beautiful is now open for business at The Mercantile in Salem, Virginia. I’m really excited to start this new venture at this wonderful store filled with some really great vendors, awesome co-workers, and the best boss ever. 🙂 Thanks … Continue reading
It seems like forever since I’ve posted and I truly have missed it.
As you can see, I’ve moved over here to WordPress. It’s a bit scary and there are still lots of things to fix, like just a bazillion links, but bare with me for a bit while I learn. I am liking it a lot though.
So…what’s been going on in my world? Well, I quit my job working as an administrative assistant – no more cubicle for me!!! And am now working full-time at Olde Salem Mercantile here in Salem, Virginia. This is so right up my alley.
I get to help our customers find great items for their homes, work on store displays, and I can’t wait to have my own booth there too. I’m working on building my inventory and clearing out all the projects I’ve neglected in my basement. So, if you are in the area, come see me!
I’m also getting ready to welcome my first grandchild into the world. It’s a boy! My daughter is due on September 30 and we are getting really excited. Baby showers are coming very soon and I’ll share some pics with you all.
Other than that, not much else exciting has been going on. Just living life a little.
Thanks for sticking around and I’ll be posting much more…promise!
I’m completely thrilled that one of my projects has made it’s way into a real, live, on the newsstand magazine! That’s me, Gloria Fox of Roanoke, VA! ahhhhhhhhhhh!
Thank you House Beautiful for including my furniture makeover tip in your June 2012 issue in 20 Makeover Ideas.
I’ve been anxiously waiting ever since I signed the photo release several months ago to see if I actually made it in the issue. For the past week, I’ve been making daily trips to the store to see if the issue was out yet and yesterday…there it was! I grabbed it up and holding my breath flipped through the magazine looking for my picture. And there it was in a special fold-out section even! I think I had to blink several times before I believed what I was seeing and I refrained from shouting to everybody in the store, “OMG that’s me!”
So, if you’re in the store make sure and pick up a copy, if I leave one available for you. It’s a really great issue full of quick makeover ideas.

The past few weeks have been a whirl-wind of activity and well honestly, I’m tired, but excited and happy for everything that’s happening.
Two weeks ago, I had my first public sale at my home, and while it wasn’t super successful, I met some really great ladies who pushed me right over the edge to put my work into an antique/consignment mall. So, I filled out the application for my favorite, Buy the Season just in the next town, and sent them some pictures of my work. I got an email the next day that they were very interested in having me join the store and had a space available for me. I met with them last Friday, picked my space and as of July 4, I’m open for business!
As a side note, I was completely flattered that the owner had been talking with the vendor rep last week and showed him some pics she had found on Craigslist and said wouldn’t it be great if we could get her in here? He recognized the items from the email I had sent him, and told her I was coming in on Friday. Doesn’t every girl need a little validation that her work is desirable? It felt really good and made me proud of all the work I have been doing lately to get this going.
So, anyway…Here’s a picture of what my space looked like before I moved in.
Well, this is kinda before. Those are my shelves I picked up at a yard sale this weekend for $5.
And, here it is after bringing some things in.
Since this picture, I’ve brought in a few more things. It seemed like I had so much more at home, but it looks a little bare, especially in the accessories department. I’ve got to get busy on some little projects. And, I’m definitely going to have to paint that pinky looking fence.
I’m excited, and of course a little nervous, about how this will work out. The hardest part about this is pricing stuff. Anybody have any advice on this?
So, if you are in the area, come out to see my space! Buy the Season is located at 1529 Apperson Drive, Salem, Virginia.
Today is my birthday, and I’ve been thinking about what the last year has brought to me and what I want to accomplish in the next year. This year has just flown by, can you believe there’s only 58 days until Christmas!! Here’s a few things I have done this year and some pictures.
