Will You be Doing the Tangerine Tango?

Have you heard?  Pantone has chosen their color of 2012 to be Tangerine Tango.

I feel like I should have a flower in my teeth and do a little snap with my fingers when I say that.  haha

It’s a pretty orange-red. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.” (Pantone press release)

So, will you be jumping on the Tangerine Tango bandwagon this year?  I’m usually not a fan of a lot of orange, or tend to follow a trend just because I’m told it will be popular.  If I like it, I’ll incorporate it, but if not, then that’s ok too.

I won’t splashing a lot of this vibrant color everywhere, but touches could be pretty.

Like this mood board I played with on Olioboard.  I’ve been thinking of redecorating my bedroom with a grey and had a little fun adding a pop of orange, or Tangerine Tango.   I do like the pop of color and with a neutral background, it would be easy to change the accent color later on if I wanted.

Surprisingly, this color also goes well with the turquoise/aqua that has been very popular in the past few years. I would have never thought to put these two colors together, but look how pretty this can be.  See, you don’t have to change your entire decor just to update it a bit.  Just add in a splash here and there and you are done.

What do you think of this color?  Do you think you will add a little spice in your home with some Tangerine Tango?

  1. I can't think of a color that is more "not me". Haha…It's pretty, but I don't know, colors like that remind me of Miami and I like more restful, shabby, tea-stained, white washed colors.I DO love it for nails, scarves and summer clothing though!

  2. Wow! I just found your blog and coincidentally I was wondering if I could use orange lamps with the new pale blue walls in my bedroom. I found some wonderful fabric and I want to pull some of the brighter colors from it. I posted it on my own blog. kimthibodeaux.blogspot.com Now, I'm going to spend my evening pouring through your posts!

I love your comments. What are your thoughts?
