Can furniture be fun? Well, of course it can. It can be a fun color, or used for something fun (ahem! get your mind out of the gutter) like art. š
Ok, I never said I could draw, but doesn’t this look like fun?
First, take a boring flat front dresser with no knobs, like this one.
Next, paint the dresser, not the drawers, in a color you like. I choose a very soft grey. Then seal it with a poly or wax of your choice. (Do not seal the drawer fronts.)
Then, take a can of Rustoleum’s Chalk Board spray paint and spray the drawer fronts. Use light coats and sand lightly in between each coat. I did two coats.
When the paint has dried completely, season the chalkboard by rubbing a piece of chalk all over the fronts of the drawers and then erase.
Now, it is time for some FUN!
Yep, that’s me admiring my work. haha
Don’t laugh at my plane…like my son did.
Yes, I had a lot of fun with this. That was the point, right? This could work in a little boy or girl’s room, a pre-teen, or anyone who wants to have a little fun with their furniture. There’s a matching night stand that goes with this, but its not quite finished yet. Just one of tomorrow’s projects.

Gloria,Your dresser turned out great and what a fun project! It looks amazing and thank you so much for using Rust-Oleum to give your dresser a makeover.
Cute idea! Great job.
Ok! I love it-seriously awesome job. I need to redo a desk and may need to use your idea and put chalkboard paint on the drawer fronts!Kimwww.kim-toomuchtimeonmyhands.blogspot.com

I love this dresser!!! Although I am a huge fan of anything that uses chalkboard paint. This is so cute!
I love this! What a great idea. You have got me thinking about a piece I have. Thanks!
What a whimsical & fun dresser! I'm putting your dresser in the PoPP spotlight.
Hey Gloria! So glad you like my laundry room..I just love it to pieces! I totally understand about having a laundry room you don't like…mine in my old house was horrible…never did get to fix it up either…it's probably still horrible! lol I promise you, I could sleep in this one! I find myself looking for things to wash, just so I can go in there. I stand in the door and just stare at it…how weird am I?! lolI ADORE your chalkboard painted dresser, it's SO fun! My litle boy would put legos in it and write legos on all the drawer fronts..he has a lego fetish! (have no clue where he gets that kind of thing!lol)Have a great day girlie!Missy
